Self-Directed Team Development
A Half-Day Intensive Workshop

This is a natural extension of the workshop The Dynamics of Work Groups and Teams, which explains important differences between various working groups. Once a decision is made to develop a self-directed team, what are the reasonable expectations? What problems do organizations encounter when attempting to develop high performance teams? Why even develop such a team?

This workshop answers these questions as it introduces self-directed team development as a long-term process. It reviews the essential developmental elements and dispels myths surrounding "popular" short cuts. True teams are explored as an idealized result.

Workshop Participants Will Learn:
* Elements of success and barriers to team development
* Management behaviors which undermine the confidence and effectiveness of teams
* Peer behaviors which form barriers to team cohesion and growth
* Skills necessary to become a self-directed team
* Difference between maximized and optimized team outputs

Who Should Attend?
* Groups that have been formed with team development intentions
* Managers or leaders who are in the process of forming a team
* Managers exploring ideas of self-management for their teams

Workshop Format
This is a highly intensive, highly participative, half-day workshop. Cramby River workshops are designed with the adult learner in mind, and provide as much experiential learning as possible. Didactic material is balanced with interactive exercises, including case studies that are based on real-world situations. In this way, important concepts are reinforced through active participation and relevant problem solving. Additional reference material is available to participants in the form of white papers, reprints, additional case studies and bibliographies.
